When my family and I went to Oglebay Resort this past weekend for a belated Christmas trip, there was still a lot of snow on the ground from the snowstorm we got a couple of weeks ago. I think I'm in the minority here, but I absolutely love snow. I don't particularly love the cold and hazardous driving conditions that often come with it, but snow is just so beautiful (and after the first day of the storm, the roads have been completely fine).
Most of the time, we didn't have to brave the elements for our entertainment, but there was that zoo I've mentioned a few times that was all outdoors. Obviously, there wasn't a huge draw for this attraction during this season, but we decided to see if there was anything out. Unfortunately, I was not wearing appropriate shoes for such an adventure... but, oh well, I'm a trouper like that.
This little pond that we came across was the site of my favorite part of this excursion. Why?
#1 - because it's beautiful, don't you think?
#2 - We got to see these guys only inches away from us... well, once we trudged through the snow on the bridge, that is.
I had so much fun taking photos of these pretty birdies in the snow. This crane was enormous! What a great find on a cold winter day. Most of the other animals were not out or weren't really cooperating for photos, so I was happy with these.
Just one more gorgeous snow shot for you before I go. I just love snow! I think I would be totally at home if I lived in Alaska... well, maybe.

I love snow too, Rainey!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures.
Beautiful photos! I love the snow when it sticks around, like it had until today. Not when it snows then melts and gets gross, then snows and melts. Ick. It needs to snow on December 1 and stick around until March 1. That would be my perfect winter. :)
